Digital Product Passport · ESPR (EU) 2024/1781
DPP & ESPR Readiness Checker
Six questions on how well your product data, bills of materials, design decisions and supplier evidence are organised for upcoming product-specific Digital Product Passport requirements. Result: a readiness score, evidence gaps and an indicative 90-day roadmap as an executive PDF.

What is actually decided, and what is not
ESPR is a framework regulation. Concrete obligations, including whether a product group needs a passport, which data it must hold and from when, are set product group by product group in delegated acts. Until a delegated act is adopted for your product group, no passport obligation applies to it under ESPR.
- The Commission plans adoption of the first product-specific acts indicatively from 2026. Adoption is not application: a transition period of generally at least 18 months follows.
- Batteries are regulated separately: the battery passport applies from 18 February 2027 to EV, LMT and industrial batteries above 2 kWh.
- Interoperability standards are being developed by CEN, CENELEC and ETSI. Not all of them are finalised.
Five evidence domains, one unscored context question
Your product category is recorded for context only and never changes the score. Each of the five domains contributes up to 20 points. Answering "Don't know" earns no evidenced points and is reported separately in coverage.

Questions engineering leaders ask
Does a passport obligation already apply to my products?+
Under ESPR, only once a delegated act for your product group is adopted and its transition period has ended. Batteries are the exception: the battery passport applies from 18 February 2027 to EV, LMT and industrial batteries above 2 kWh.
Is there a blanket ESPR deadline in 2026 or 2027?+
No. The Commission's dates are indicative adoption dates for individual delegated acts. Application generally follows at least 18 months later.
Does a high score mean we are compliant?+
No. The score measures organisational preparedness across five evidence domains. It is not a legal assessment, audit or certificate.
Are CSRD or CSDDD assessed?+
No. They are separate company-level frameworks with their own scopes and are not part of this six-question tool.
